The Leading Ignition Interlock
Intoxalock is an industry leading ignition interlock device that is easy to use with its simple blow pattern and one button keypad. When you compare Intoxalock to other ignition interlock devices in the market, it’s easy to see why it’s a top choice among customers, state administrators, attorneys and more.
One of the many reasons to choose Intoxalock as your provider is the savings and convenience that our advanced technology models provide to customers. The Intoxalock eLERT24 combines two features - an IID that can also provide 24/7 monitoring. With this Intoxalock model, you have to lease only one device to meet those two requirements. Other companies make devices that can only provide one of these functions, requiring you to lease two separate pieces of equipment to be in compliance with your state requirements.

Where to start?
You just received a drunk driving offense and are probably overwhelmed and confused as to what the next steps are.
Most people are required to install an ignition interlock device after a drunk driving conviction. Even if you are unfamiliar with what an ignition interlock device is, they are extremely common and have probably been used by people you know and love.
What is a Ignition Interlock Device?
A breath alcohol ignition interlock device (BAIID) is a breath testing device, including all parts necessary for operation, e.g., handset and camera, installed in a vehicle that prevents it from operating if the breath test registers a breath alcohol concentration that meets or exceeds the alcohol set point.
Who needs an ignition interlock?
Missouri law requires any person guilty of a second or subsequent intoxication-related traffic offense to install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle they operate before reinstating driving privileges.
Each ignition interlock provider is responsible for reporting ignition interlock compliance to the Department of Revenue and/or the court-ordered supervising authority.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The process after receiving a drunk driving conviction, again, is dependent on your state. In most cases, you will receive your interlock requirement through a court order or from the monitoring authority in your state.
Yes, while the functionality is the same, there will be some variations in how to use and submit breath samples. There are three primary methods of submitting a breath sample:
- Straight blow
- Blow and hum
Ignition interlock devices are always installed by state-certified installers. Each certified ignition interlock provider has approved installers in the state they work with through the installation, calibration and removal process.
Because they are only needed for a temporary period of time, ignition interlock devices are leased from the manufacturer, not purchased outright. With this model, you’ll pay a monthly “rental” fee and will return the device at the end of your lease.
